The best place to spend an afternoon or evening at Mahekal, is the Sandbox, at Fuego Restaurante y Cantina.  As the sun sets, swing in a hammock and have a hand-crafted cocktail.

The Sandbox is home to so many special and personalized experiences at Mahekal Beach Resort.  Choose from an intimate, exclusive romantic dinner on the beach, or inside our Bali-Bed woven haven.  Our lobster dinner is a guest favorite, when we prepare Caribbean lobsters on Fuego's wood-fired grills.  And don't miss Fresh Catch of the Day, one of the most unique experiences at Mahekal, when local fishermen bring their fresh fish haul to the beach.  Chef Nerey selects the best fish, carving and filleting the fish in front of our guests.  Guests can then pick their afternoon late lunch or dinner at Fuego, and then have to decide on one of numerous preparations.  Local fish vary by season, but often include snapper, grouper and other local fish.
