Is it safe to walk into town?

Playa del Carmen is a welcoming, tourist-friendly destination. We always recommend normal precautions with cash, jewelry, phones, and other valuables. Every room has a safety deposit box for your convenience.

Is there loud music near Mahekal?

Mahekal provides a serene setting amid lush, varied greenery. However, being downtown, we are adjacent to restaurants, nightclubs, and beach clubs, so occasional music and urban noise are possible. Can I smoke at Mahekal?

Mexico’s 2023 anti-tobacco law prohibits smoking in public spaces such as hotels, beaches, restaurants, plazas, and parks. We have three designated smoking areas on property; smoking is strictly forbidden in rooms and all public areas, including the spa, restaurants, pools, and beach.
